Images Beyond Borders

No Grants Gallery/The Culture Box, Thursday 6^th October to Thursday 27^th October

Images Beyond Borders is a collection of children’s illustrations by artists from Ireland and Austria. It is the result of an exciting collaboration between the Irish children’s books laureate, Laureate na nÓg, Siobhán Parkinson, and the Austrian Embassy, and will run for three weeks at the No Grants Gallery/Culture Box in Dublin’s Temple Bar from 6^th to 27^th October 2011.

 

The exhibition comprises work by five Austrian and five Irish children’s illustrators which have been brought together for the first time. The artists include:

Niamh Sharkey

The Irish illustrations are drawn from the highly successful Garter Lane exhibition, Enchanted, which has been touring around venues in Ireland. The Austrian illustrations have been provided by Austrian Children’s Publisher, Jungbrunnen, and come courtesy of the Austrian Embassy in Dublin.

The exhibition will be open from 6pm on Thursday 6^th October, with an official launch at 7pm on Friday 7^th October, when there will be a discussion on children’s illustrations by Niamh Sharkey and Valerie Coghlan followed by a wine reception sponsored by the Austrian Embassy?
