Ensemble “eX” in Dublin present “The Rape of the Lock”…

On July 4th at 8pm a baroque spectacle staging of Alexander Popes 1714 poem “The Rape of The Lock” with music by G.F Handel will be presented by Ensemble “eX” in Dublin in association with Temple Bar Cultural Trust at Ss Michael and Johns Church, 15-19 West Essex Street, Old City Temple Bar, Dublin 2.

This baroque adaptation was conceived and directed by Eric Fraad and music will be led by Early Music Authority Christopher Hogwood.

The mock heroic narrative of five cantos will be injected with an operatic staging of Georg Frideric Handel’s sublime Italian duets. The Rape of The Lock conjures up a meticulous vision of early 18th century culture while exploring issues as alive and unsettling today as they were then.
