Dublin City Manager appoints new Chairman of Temple Bar Cultural Trust

20 January 2012

Dublin City Manager John Tierney is pleased to announce that he has appointed Dáithí O'Ceallaigh to be the new chair of Temple Bar Cultural Trust (TBCT).

Dáithí had a distinguished career as a senior civil servant and Ambassador in the Department of Foreign Affairs. He is currently Director General of the Institute of International and European Affairs and Chairman of the Press Council of Ireland.

The City Manager said he was delighted to have a person of the calibre of Daithi to provide the strategic leadership that TBCT needs at this time. In making the announcement the City Manager also expressed his sincere gratitude to the outgoing Chairman Matt McNulty for his unstinting dedication and hard work on behalf of the Trust for over 20 years. It was appropriate that his stewardship was culminating with the completion of another landmark project in the area, i.e., the magnificent Rainscreen Project in Meeting House Square. The City Manager also thanked the other retiring members - Eithne Healy, Doireann Ni Bhriain and Dick Gleeson for their input and support and contributing to the success of Temple Bar over many years.

The City Manager has appointed Ray Yeates the new City Arts Officer to the Board and two further Board members will be appointed early in the New Year.
